Aloha!  Welcome to my blog!  I am Turquoise Parker, a second grade teacher.  YES, My name is Turquoise :-)  named after Dr. J's wife, Turquoise.  I graduated from the very prestigious NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL UNIVERSITY(N.C.C.U.) in December 2010.  I was in the marching band every year of college and it was the very best experience.  I feel like it truly prepared me for teaching.

Right out of college, I began teaching in a self contained classroom simultaneously working with autistic students.  It.  Was.  HARD.  BUT I MADE IT!  I was then moved to second grade. I did not want to go at first, but after being there for just one day I realized mainstream is where God wants me.  I then moved to third grade and stayed there for two years, then moved back to second grade.  I did all of that at one school.  I switched schools, still in second grade, and I LOVE IT!  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!  The 2017-2018 school year makes 7 1/2 years in public education.

I am married to Donald Parker III, who is affectionately known as my tall, sexy, black husband man.  We met at N.C.C.U.  We were best friends all through college but did not date in college.  Well, kind of.  We dated in his last semester at N.C.C.U.  He's still my very best friend.  We got engaged only after dating for six months https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22gzazFmL3k  We then got married on June 14, 2013.  We do not have any children yet :-)

I eat, sleep and breath teaching.  I thank God for this gift.  I have yet to tap into everything that God has gifted me with for this field and for that I am so thankful. My passions are public education, children, historically black colleges and universities and Jesus!  I am a wife, follower of Jesus Christ and a Teachers Pay Teachers seller.  I love to go on cruises, watch A Different World, study God's word and spend time with my husband and my family.
